SAFE AND SANE SHASTA

For the last four years, Shasta County, California, has been attacked by well-documented socio-political threats and even violence. Yet, some people have stood their ground and spoken the truth to power! ​

After the November 05, 2024, presidential election, nationally and locally, far-right extremism has increased to a fevered pitch. Locally, under the majority direction of extreme far-right Shasta County Supervisors, along with their politically adjacent culture-war conspiracists and secessionists, county governance has almost become dysfunctional.  We are more polarized and divided than ever.

 

While understandable, many in the middle and many on the other side of the far-right spectrum have faded into the background, some in fear, some from exhaustion, leaving many wondering what Shasta County and the United States of America will become. And yet, for some, doing nothing is not an option. After all, if the deer in the headlights doesn't do something, they will continue to get hit.  

 

 "Doing nothing is not an option, means that inaction or choosing not to take any steps to address a situation is not acceptable; it implies that a response or solution is required, and simply standing by is not a viable choice."  That is what the Safe and Sane is all about.​
